OCTOBER 2025
Message from Secretary General
Dear Members and supporters,
We are pleased to report that the European Parliament adopted its resolution on wildlife trade ahead of the upcoming CITES convention meeting, marking a clear political shift toward a science-based approach to hunting and the movement of hunting trophies. For the first time in a decade, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) recognised the conservation and community benefits of well-managed hunting programmes. We commend MEPs for listening to the facts on this matter.
Internationally, FACE participated in the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, where new directions were adopted for conservation and sustainable use. FACE was closely involved in discussions on wildlife management, species recovery, and wolf management — ensuring hunters’ contributions to conservation were clearly represented in this important forum.
This month, we also report on the latest developments on lead in ammunition, seal trade, bird hunting, animal health as well as our work on the “CoCo” Co-creating Coexistence project, which focuses on improving how wildlife and livestock coexist in Europe’s rural landscapes.
We hope you enjoy the October monthly report.
Warm regards,
Dr. David Scallan
FACE Secretary General
