The FACE Report

NOVEMBER 2025

Message from Secretary General

Dear Members and supporters,

November has been an exceptionally busy yet productive month for FACE, marked by high-level political engagement and intensive work across EU and international processes. In the European Parliament, FACE co-organised a major event on the proposed REACH restriction on lead in ammunition, which attracted strong interest from Members of the European Parliament and provided a vital platform to emphasise the practical implications for hunters, sport shooters, and other sectors.

We also partnered with the Association of European Manufacturers of Sporting Firearms (ESFAM) to host a dinner debate with key MEPs and industry representatives—strengthening collaboration at a crucial moment for EU firearms policy and advocacy.

Beyond Brussels, recent weeks have featured an active schedule of international meetings, from IUCN to AEWA and CITES. FACE has been consistently active and visible, ensuring that the voice of Europe’s hunters is represented in debates that increasingly influence European hunting and conservation policies. These meetings addressed key topics such as waterbird management, sustainable use, wildlife trade governance, large carnivores, and the implementation of international action plans.

Finally, we are nearing the conclusion of another key EU legislative file: an EU regulation on dog welfare. A provisional agreement has now been reached between the Parliament, Council, and Commission, marking a significant step forward after years of negotiation. FACE continues to monitor this process closely as several provisions relate to hunting dogs.

We hope you enjoy the November monthly report.

Warm regards,

Dr. David Scallan
FACE Secretary General
