Register now for the conference “Managing predators for meadow birds” – EP, 05 March 2019

Register now for the conference “Managing predators for meadow birds”, hosted by MEP Bendt Bendtsen and organised in cooperation with FACE – European Federation for Hunting and Conservation.

This conference will discuss predator management as a tool to conserve vulnerable species. It will focus on population declines of meadow (wading) birds, which are often driven by low reproductive success resulting from habitat loss and nest/chick losses due to high levels of predation.

The recently adopted EU action plan for breeding meadow birds (waders) calls for the control of predators to increase the breeding productivity of eight species. Predator management requires close cooperation with authorities and local interest groups, such as hunters, farmers and landowners.

In this context, Europe’s 7 million hunters can play an important role in managing predators.
