Europe’s largest hunting fair JAGD & HUND Germany: Brussels policy hot on the agenda

Dortmund, 31 January 2025 – The JAGD & HUND fair, Europe’s largest hunting exhibition, is taking place from January 28 to February 2, 2025, in Dortmund, Germany. During the event, delegates and experts from Europe’s national hunting associations are convening for several FACE meetings.

Laurens Hoedemaker, President of FACE

On January 29, the FACE Board discussed key topics for Europe’s 7 million hunters, including bird hunting and conservation, wolf management, animal welfare, firearms and ammunition. Concurrently, the FACE Communication Working Group met to advance work on the social pillar of FACE’s initiatives. In particular, FACE is working to strengthen the social acceptance of hunting in Europe through coordinated initiatives such as the successful Game Meat Week campaign, which promotes the benefits of game meat to a wider audience.

On January 29, FACE organised an industry networking event titled “Europe’s Hunting Sector in 2025: Future Expectations and Industry Impacts“. The event attracted major exhibiting companies, business leaders, and industry representatives. FACE President, Laurens Hoedemaker and Secretary General, Dr. David Scallan presented key aspects of FACE’s advocacy work, highlighting the challenges and opportunities emerging from Brussels, where a significant portion of regulations affecting hunting and conservation in Europe are formulated. This annual event has become a valuable platform for the private sector to network and stay informed about the latest trends impacting hunting and conservation in Europe.

FACE’s German Member, Deutsche Jagdverband (DJV) and their regional member Landesjagdverband Nordrhein-Westfalen, are active at the fair discussing a range of key policies important for hunters in Germany.
