08 Sep 2020 FACE position on wolves in Europe adopted
Brussels, 7 September 2020 – The FACE General Assembly, which represents the views of 7 million hunters, unanimously adopted a clear position on wolves in Europe to guide FACE’s work on this topic.
The return of the wolf in Europe is a clear conservation success. However, coexistence with wolves is a challenge in Europe’s highly modified and populated landscapes.
This position advocates for an EU legal framework whereby sustainable hunting can play a key role in the long-term conservation and management of wolves in Europe. From the perspective of Europe’s 7 million hunters, an improved coexistence with wolves is vital, and FACE’s position sets out a clear course to achieve this.
