Since 2010 the Nordic region (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland) and FACE MED (Mediterranean countries) have visited each other three times - in Italy, Sweden.

The 11th Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP 11) of The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands took place in Bucharest, Romania from 6-13 July. The theme of this year COP was  “Wetlands: home and destination”, focusing on wetlands, tourism and recreation.

The FACE Biodiversity Manifesto aligns itself with the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2020. The 34 action points address a host of EU biodiversity priority areas and promote cooperation with other sectors and stakeholders such as farmers, land and forest owners, conservation NGOs and public authorities.

The Sustainable Hunting Parliamentary Intergroup organised a meeting at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the “demographic explosion” of wild boar populations in Europe on 4 July. Delphine Dupeux from the European Landowners’ Organization (ELO) presented a compilation report on the situation in a number of countries on the likely causes of these population increases and on the possible measures to neutralise or at least mitigate their effects and impacts.

This year’s  General Assembly of the French Association of Mountain Hunters (ANCM) – whose President Alain Esclopé is also one of the two FACE representatives of the French Hunters’ Federation FNC - took place in the scenic ski resort of Les Angles, high in the Eastern Pyrenees, close to Andorra.

The French National Hunters’ Association FNC (Fédération Nationale des Chasseurs, FACE Member) received support from the Ministry of Ecology and the Foundation of the House of Hunting and Nature (Maison de la Chasse et de la Nature) to coordinate a mediation and communication project: Medialoup, to address the return of the wolf in France and Europe.
