 A changing climate does not change the need for science

On 8 November FACE participated in the European Commission Stakeholders’ Hearing in Brussels on the upcoming 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP16) to CITES, which will be held from 3-14 March 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand.

At the 2009 COP9 in Rome the FACE and CIC Report specifically identified the increased attention being paid to the CMS by protectionist and animal rights organisations, seeking to influence the Parties in much the same fashion as they do in CITES, and identified this as a growing concern. This trend was again strongly evident at the recent COP10 (Bergen, 2011).
