In the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, FACE organised an exhibition on “Traditional Hunting and Culture in the Mediterranean Region”, hosted by MEP Remo Sernagiotto (ECR Group) in the European Parliament, from 30 April to 3 May.

FACE together with UETA (Union of European Trappers’ Associations) participated at the first meeting of the Experts Group on Humane Trapping Standards, organised by the European Commission’s DG ENV. The meeting’s purpose was to present the current status of implementation of the AIHTS (Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards) to the Member States.

National teams made up of 4 contestants each for France, Italy and Spain gathered in the salubrious Provençal town of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer to compete in the International Birdsong Imitation Championships. These 3 countries, rich in culture, contain the regions of the Mediterranean arc where the magical art of birdsong imitation is practiced and woven with passion into the very cultural fabric that make up these beautiful pockets of Europe where people are close to nature.

Falconers and fellow hunters from 19 countries gathered with EU decision-makers at the European Parliament in Brussels to launch a unique exhibition: the IAF (International Association of Falconry) and FACE joined with European Parliament’s Sustainable Hunting Intergroup President, Véronique Mathieu and MEP Bogdan Marcinkiewicz to host an internationally themed visual display at the very heart of Europe.
